More than 1,000 people marched through the area, blocking roads and causing a delay to the Oscars broadcast. During the ceremony, director Jonathan Glazer made headlines for speaking out against Israel’s assault on Gaza. Accepting an award for his film about the Holocaust, “The Zone of Interest,” Glazer said, “Our film shows where dehumanization leads….Right now, we stand here as men who refute their Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked by an occupation which has led to conflict for so many innocent people, whether the victims of Oct. 7 in Israel or the ongoing attack on Gaza.”
